Last weekend, Chris took some trash cans that were outside of the house and went to clean them out. He then spent about a half an hour dry heaving. Foreclosed homes have a tendency to sit on the market, and ours sat, for sure - with food in the fridge, trash inside and outside, and a basement and shed full of junk of unknown vintage. Brave Christopher boldly went on to tackle the offending trash cans, disgusting as they were:
And he nearly lost his lunch because of it. You can see in the photo above some of the other debris that was left by the previous owner - a picnic table, a deflated baby pool, a grass-catcher from an unknown lawnmower - all of which we will have to pay to dispose of. Unfortunately, we can't just shove it out on the curb because our city has a million archaic trash laws, which include not being able to put the trash out before 5pm the day before collection. Ugh. We've been planning all week on how to get the trash out and back in, in accordance with the town's laws, and Chris went out last night and put them on the street for Friday pickup. And it's a good thing, too, because it started to rain yesterday and this is what I saw:
OMG. Freaking MAGGOTS. They were everywhere - on the lid, on the sides, crawling in and out of the can - now it was my turn to hurl.
Please pray that our trash gets taken out while we're at work today! I felt like I was Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs yesterday, and I didn't even have to take the cans out. Thank you, honey. :)
This weekend - painting! Pictures to follow!
