We purchased our home in July of 2009. It is an 1812 Colonial in Suburban Boston, MA. Our home was owned by the same family from the early 20th century until 2007, when the property was sold to someone who intended to renovate and flip the home. He made a few major changes (including re-structuring the entire basement) but was foreclosed on soon after taking possession. Our offer was accepted in June of 2009 after a long and arduous process. We bought this house mainly because of the location, the lot, and the idea that we could live in it while renovating. Some things we do ourselves and some we trust the pros to do, but every project becomes an adventure in our old house!
