To hear back from our lawyer. We made a few phone calls this morning and discovered that our property has several outstanding building permits that were never inspected. That means that as buyers, we would be held responsible for competing the work and bringing the house up to code. Which could cost us anywhere from $500 - $30,000, who knows. Until then, we can't even occupy the house.
So, we're waiting to hear about whether or not they will accept a contingency that will get us out of the deal if we are unable to get an occupancy permit. High drama. More later...
Pictures attached of how we're feeling right now.
I hope that everything turns out ok! You guys deserve to get a break.
